lost in space

Welcome to our 'Is it Anxiety?' crash course! Today, we're going to explore the world of childhood anxiety and help parents decode those puzzling signs and behaviours. Get ready for a journey of understanding and empowerment!"

As parents, we often find ourselves wondering, 'Is it anxiety?' when our child experiences certain behaviours that seem out of the ordinary. Let's uncover the truth together!"

Anxiety is a normal part of life. We all experience it to some extent. But for some children, anxiety can become persistent, frequent, and out of proportion to the trigger.

So, how can we recognise anxiety? Look out for warning signs such as:

  • excessive worry
  • restlessness
  • trouble sleeping
  • irritability
  • physical symptoms like stomachaches or headaches
  • and avoidance of certain situations."

It's important to understand the difference between worrying and anxiety. We all worry, but anxiety is persistent, frequent, and often out of proportion to the trigger."

Therapy is not about getting rid of anxiety. It's about teaching children how to cope with it and recognise when it's a false alarm. Therapy empowers children to embrace their fears instead of avoiding them."

Childhood anxiety can have a significant impact on day-to-day family life. Parents often unintentionally accommodate anxiety by making accommodations or workarounds to ease their child's discomfort."

Parents, it's important to remember that you are not to blame for your child's anxiety. However, you play a crucial role in being part of the solution. By understanding and supporting your child, you can help them navigate their anxious moments."

Therapy encourages children to embrace their fear triggers instead of avoiding them. By gradually facing their fears, children learn to distinguish between real danger and perceived threats."
